Cookie Policy

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, work more efficiently, and to provide information to the owners of the site.

This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on www.jjoplc.com, why we use them, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more generally how we handle personal data.

We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), which govern how we may use cookies and similar technologies, and require us to get your consent before placing non-essential cookies on your device.

When you first visit our site, a cookie banner gives you a genuine choice: Accept All, Reject Non-Essential, or Manage Preferences to choose by category. Non-essential cookies, such as analytics, are only set if you agree to them.

You can change your choice at any time by clicking "Cookie Preferences" in the footer of any page, which reopens the preferences panel so you can switch categories on or off.

You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you see what cookies are stored, delete them individually, block cookies from particular sites, block third-party cookies, block all cookies, and delete all cookies when you close your browser. If you block or delete cookies, some parts of the site may not work as intended.

For more information on managing cookies in common browsers, visit your browser's help pages, or aboutcookies.org.

These cookies are essential for the website to function properly, for example remembering your cookie consent choice or your position in a photo gallery. Because they are essential, these cookies do not require your consent and cannot be switched off in our systems.

With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site, such as which pages are viewed, how long for, and what site referred you to us. This helps us improve our content and services. These cookies collect information in an anonymous or pseudonymous form and do not directly identify you, although Google may use your IP address to approximate your location.

Google may transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process it on Google's behalf. You can find out more about how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Some of our forms use Google reCAPTCHA to protect against spam and abuse. reCAPTCHA sets cookies and collects technical information, such as your IP address and browser information, to assess whether form submissions are likely to come from a human. This is covered by Google's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Where we embed videos from YouTube, YouTube may set cookies once you choose to play the video, to support playback and, depending on your settings with Google, to personalise content. These are controlled by YouTube rather than by us.

Cookie Purpose Duration
_GRECAPTCHA Google reCAPTCHA – distinguishes humans from bots on protected forms Up to 6 months
YSC, VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE, PREF YouTube – supports embedded video playback Session to 8 months

We use Adobe Fonts (Typekit) to display custom typefaces on our site. Loading these fonts may involve a connection to Adobe's servers, which can see that a request for a particular font has come from your IP address. This is a technical requirement for displaying the site correctly and is treated as part of our legitimate interest in running the site, rather than a tracking cookie.

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for legal or regulatory reasons. Any updates will be posted on this page.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we use cookies, please contact our Data Protection Officer at dpo@jjoplc.com, or by post to Data Protection Officer, Avalon House, Lee Road, Bacup, Lancashire, England, OL13 0EA.

If you are unhappy with how we use cookies or your data, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
